一、typical ?英式?['t?p?k(?)l] ?美式?['t?p?kl] ?adj. 典型的；有代表性的，特有的；象征性的

1. 常用于名詞前，表示典型的有代表性的人或者物等。

對話中的例子：What's typical summer food in Washington (D.C.)?

華盛頓夏天有代表性的食物是什么？

新例子：Tom is always ready to help others out. He is a typical gentleman ?in our class.

Tom總是樂于助人，他是我們班典型的紳士。

2. typical?of (sb./ sth.)特有的，獨特的，典型的，一貫的(常帶有抱怨或者批評的情感）

That is?typical of him to get up late. 他一貫起得晚。

What you?are watching is typical of an action movie.

你正看的是一部典型的動作片。

 

二、ripen?英式?['ra?p(?)n]??美式?['ra?p?n] ?V. 成熟

對話中的例子：

Typical summer food, well, watermelons usually ripen in the late spring ?and early summer.

典型的夏季食物，嗯，西瓜通常在晚春和初夏時成熟。

My wife and I also have some grapes outside our house that ripen in? August.

我和我妻子在我們房子外面還有些葡萄，它們八月份成熟。

 

三、popular?英式?['p?pj?l?]??美式['pɑpj?l?]

1. popular?with... 受...喜愛歡迎，流行的

This song is popular with the students in our class.

這首歌很受我們班學生歡迎。

2. popular among...受...歡迎、喜愛，流行的

Skirts are popular among young girls.

短裙在年輕女孩子中很受喜愛。

3. 放名詞前作定語

對話中的句子：

They are?the most popular summer fruit in America.

在夏天它們是美國最受歡迎的水果。

 

四、include?英式?[?n'klu?d]??美?式[?n'klud] 包含，包括

對話中的句子：

Besides,?summer diets should include many kinds of berries like ?raspberries,?blackberries and blueberries.

Tom的愛好跟Kitty的一樣。

六、raw英式?[r??]??美式?[r?]?生的，未經烹飪的，

1. 名詞前作定語

Normally people don't eat raw meat.

一般人們不吃生肉。

2. 也可以像對話中例句那么用

Do people just eat them raw or do they also make other food with them?

人們是直接生吃呢還是也用它們做成其他的食物呢？

 

七、such as 例如，像

對話中的句子：

I'm talking about vegetables such as cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, ?sweet peas, green beans, potatoes, sweet potatoes and tomatoes, to name just a few.

我說的是像黃瓜、辣椒、茄子、豌豆、四季豆、土豆、紅薯和西紅柿一類的蔬菜，這里就列舉幾個例子。

2. adj. 有空的(可以做某事或者與某人交談見面等）

She might be available this afternoon.
